FEAR (PART2)

THE ILLUSION OF BEING REALISTIC

Hello there, I hope and trust that today you in good health. So last week I published my very first blog “I’m no longer a slave to fear” where I talked most on the “you can’t voice in our heads” which is basically the manifestation of FEAR. If you missed it, get it here https://wp.me/pbpVs3-q.  Today I wanted us to move to a new topic, I love this topic and am so excited about it but  then I was reminded of the second voice of fear which I didn’t talk about last week and it is very important that I address this voice first before moving on to my next topic.

If I was to describe these voices, I could say the first voice “you can’t” comes in our heads as a loud fast running train like pooo pooo, you can’t, you can’t, and you can’t. This voice is just so loud. Unlike the “you can’t voice”, the second voice come a sweet smooth whisper and goes like “WHAT IF”. Ring any bells?

The sweet smooth seductive what if voice comes in with painted images of how the just generated thought/idea would go wrong, the colors painted are so bright that we miss out on the faint possibilities colors. Most of us defend this voice with being realistic, we say no lets view both sides here, let’s be realistic and as almost usually the realist part triumph over the generated thought.  I guess it only right that I call this voice “the illusion of being realistic”.

Will smith says and I quoted

“being realist is the most common travelled road and a lot have died on this road”.

Will Smith

So unless you are common person, let’s divert from this road I mean why being realistic? Last I checked God uses the most unrealistic ways to bring great impact. I mean it didn’t make sense at all when Noah was building that ark, it was so unrealistic but we all know how the story ended.  What am I saying?

The what if voice is nothing but the voice of fear and doubt which also happens to be the key ingredient to self-destruction. In one random conversation that I had this week, a lady confessed that the only reason why she never answered questions in class was because of fear and not that she never had the answers.

“ndipo iwe I always head voices telling me that what am about to say ndiza bwerela (Is no sense) every time I thought of attempting a question in class, such that the fear grew and I stopped answering questions in class” she said.

Digging deep into our conversation I learnt that she was always afraid of what her classmates or lecture would say if her answer was wrong. She was in constant battle with the “what if voice” which amplified her doubt and fear and made her to always shut up doing lectures, despite the fact that she was a very brilliant student whom by the way recently graduated with a Credit from the University of Malawi.

The good news is you are not the first one to experience these voices of fear and doubt.  Many years back people like Abraham, Jeremiah, Joshua, Elijah and of course the master himself Jesus Christ faced and dealt with the same thing called fear. All these people have mentioned plus a whole lot others feared their callings, potential and abilities. I personally believe they heard these same voices “you can’t, what if” and that’s why God had to now and gain send his angels to remind them “DO NOT BE AFRAID”. Did you know the word “do not be afraid” is mentioned over 350 times in the bible? That just shows you how much fear them dudes had which is justified by the way. These dudes where facing life and death situations, I mean they had all the rights to be afraid and God knew this,  so he constantly had to remind them, do not be afraid for I am with you always. Now if God was with these people and pulled them out of these fearsome situations and caused them to triumph over all, why wouldn’t He be with you with your insecurities and self-doubt issues?

So the next time the sweet smooth seductive what if voice comes to stare fear and doubt in your mind, flush it off, how you ask? Let’s wrap it up like this.

How to triumph over fear and doubt:

You first must recognize its roots. Search and do your research well to find out where the fear is coming from, where the doubt is coming from. Let’s discuss just a few of common sources of fear and doubt

Fear and doubt are often rooted in physical issues.  For most bible characters they had fear and doubt because they had to physically go to battle, this meant bloodshed, coming back with dislocated arms and legs, this meant life and death, who wouldn’t be afraid of that? This was the root of their fears. For you and me the roots of our fears usually are physical in terms of finances, academics, work, business etc. and emotional in terms of our relationships, these are either romantic relationships or normal relationships with friends and family. Recognize the roots and deal with them by changing your perception towards the roots. I always say “perception is everything”. If you perceive it to be a problem and hard, it’s going to be a problem and hard, if you perceive it to be easy and doable, you are going to strive and succeed in it.  A story is told of a girl who always hated (feared) math in school and perceived it as hard, but having a changed perception towards math, she ended up getting a distinction in subject in her MSCE exams and when she applied this new mind set to all her endeavors, many years later she’s a PHD holder. She overcame her fears by identifying the roots and changing her perception towards the roots.

Fear and doubt are also usually rooted in spiritual attacks. Ahuhhh my mother would shout the biggest hallelujah to this point lol.  So growing up as a kid I always had this fear of the unknown, like It didn’t make sense how I could be such a clever kid but at the same time have huge fear, until my mother noticed that this was not physical but rather spiritual so mama engaged in prayers until my deliverance came about, you already know the whole Pentecostal family drills let me not get into details here lol.  What am I saying;  if your fear is very unusual , like way unusual , chances are high it may be a spiritual issues that needs to  be handled in the spiritual realms until your delivered, like mama usually says “fear is demonic” so that demon has to be dealt with.  Many people Miss Gods best treasures because of fear, the I can’t voice & what if takes over and then you quit on your biggest opportunity. The enemy commonly draws people into fear and doubt because he realized that a fearful person is not a productive person in the kingdom. If at all the root of your fear is spiritual you need to combat it through spiritual means such as reading the word, worship, prayer and fasting. You must resist the devil by using the weapons God gave you.

How to conquer fear and doubt

There are many ways how people deal with their fears and doubt, if we say there one general way of dealing with that, we will certainly be very far from the truth. However I have discovered just few ways how I can deal with my fears and I thought I should share with you.  Believe me they have worked for me, they might just equally work for you. Here is how I deal with my fears…

 Having a revelation of God

Identity is very key in battling fear and prospering in life. Understating who are changes everything. In genesis 15:1 God is comforting Abraham and telling him not to be afraid because he is his Shield. I mean y’all just having the understanding of God being a shield, your personal Shield, so why should you be afraid knowing every battle ahead He got your back. So understand who you are, the bible says you’re conqueror, an overcomer, you’re Gods image and your God is an almighty God, nothing is impossible with him. Why should you then be afraid? This revelation ought to just drive all the fears and doubts away as it does with me.

Choose to reject the fear. Many are the times that we give in to fear, then the voice just hits boom we instantly obey. But what if we decided to reject the voices. Many people accept fear because they see it as rational. When God called Moses to lead his people, Moses saw his lack of speaking abilities as a rational reason to fear leading Israel. We have a tendency of making up excuses to cover our fears. What then should we do?  Reject that fear because of Gods resources. Most of us are afraid of stepping out because we start thinking of where the resources to achieve that we want to achieve will come from, so we hold back in our fears. But God tells Abraham

"(Gen 15:1) do not be afraid Abraham I am your shield your great reward."

God is basically telling Abraham “I am enough for you” so don’t be afraid. Reject fear because you understand the resources at your disposal for your self-development, protection and enjoyment are readily available.

I so very much wanted to share with you how my life changes every time I  share these revelations/notes but let’s save that one for another day, I hope and trust that you have learnt something of this very long post, So go out there and live fearless, step out and fulfill your dreams.  Don’t let voices shut you down. Don’t let the illusion of being realistic fool yah And at this point I would like to know and hear from you. How have you or are you handling some of you fears in life?? Please remember to leave a comment below and as well as to share you don’t know whom this is gonna help.

 Love y’all!!!!  Grace and Peace….
